You can't measure a cool or warm color with a thermometer but with how it makes the viewer feel
Using both can create visual interest and emphasis on a certain area

With colored lights they mix together in our eyes perceptions to create a different color than they would produce if mixed in a physical pigmentation. For example, red and green pigments would create a brown but red and green lights mix in our eyes to create yellow

If you have two light sources of different colors shining on the same form, the cast shadow from each light source will be the color of the other source
